Oryashkova secured the hosts their first gold medal of the Championships, sponsored by Rosneft, on day two as she overcame Sviatlana Tsimashenka of Belarus in the final of the women’s 80 kilogram competition.

Buoyed on by the home support throughout the contest, the partisan crowd inside the Arena Armeec produced an emphatic roar as soon as Oryashkova secured victory and one of their own was crowned world champion.

The bronze medals in the division were won by Natalia Kazanseva of Russia and Ukraine’s Halyna Kovalska.

Belarus celebrated both of the remaining two women's gold medals today as Maryna Zharskaya and Tatsiana Matsko were victorious.

Firstly, Zharskaya claimed the 52kg gold medal as she defeated Russian Anna Kharitonova in the final, while the bronze medals were won by Mariia Buiok of Ukraine and Turkmenistan’s Gulbadam Babamuratova.

The second Belarus triumph came courtesy of Matsko's win over Dinara Zhumabayeva of Kazakhstan in the 64kg competition. 

Cameroon's Bibiene Fora was the first medallist from Africa this week as she claimed one bronze medal, while Tetyana Savenko of Ukraine took the second.

The first men's final of the day was in the 57kg category where Georgian Vakhtangi Chidrashvili prevailed over Yerbolat Baibatyrov of Kazakhstan to win his country's second gold medal this week.

Aimergen Atkunov of Russia and Armenian Maksim Manukyan were victorious in their respective bronze medal bouts.

Russia then came to the forefront of the competition once again today.

After winning six of the nine gold medals available yesterday, they claimed the remaining five including a clean sweep in the men's combat sambo.

Their first two gold medals, however, arrived in the two remaining men's sport sambo finals.

Oleg Babgoev was the first Russian to strike gold as he overcame Georgia's Levan Nakhutsrishvili in the 74kg final, while the bronze medals were won by Khamroz Rajabov of Tajikistan and Stsiapan Papou of Belarus.

Concluding the men's sport sambo action was the 100kg competition in which Vyacheslav Mikhaylin was victorious.

The Russian defeated Andrei Kazusionak of Belarus, who won silver, while Davit Loriashvili of Georgia and Latvian Viktors Resko claimed the two bronzes.

In the first final of the men's combat event, Rustam Taldiev was successful in the 62kg division as he defeated Veselin Ivanov of Bulgaria in what proved to be a nail biting contest.

After trailing 4-0 Ivanov produced a stunning blow to bring himself level in the bout.

Roared on by the partisan crowd inside Arena Armeec he edged ahead 6-5 before Taldiev displayed his superiority to win 11-8.

Kazbek Supygaliev of Kazakhstan and Kerimberdi Dovletov claimed the two bronze medals.

Raymond Magomedaliev continued his country's fine form by defeating Ukrainian Maksym Ryndovskyi to claim gold in the 82kg competition.

Yauheni Aleksiyevich of Belarus and Temirlan Ikhsangaliev of Kazakhstan were the bronze medallists.

Bringing the day's action to a close was the men's combat sambo over-100kg final.

Denis Goltsov secured Russia's fifth and final gold as he dispatched Olim Khudaykulov of Uzbekistan.

Elsewhere, the final bronze medals of today were won by both Razmik Tonoyan of Ukraine and Martin Marinkov of Bulgaria to the delight of the home crowd.

The final nine sets of medals will be handed out tomorrow, the concluding day of action, with the women’s 56kg, 68kg and over-80kg categories and the men’s 62kg, 82kg and over-100kg division. 

In combat sambo men’s 52kg, 68kg and 90kg events will bring action to a close.
