Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby (GBWR) is preparing to host its second Youth Tournament in a bid to help spread the sport to a younger generation.

The event, which is being organised alongside communications giant BT, will take place at the Stoke Mandeville Stadium, the historic birthplace of the Paralympic Games.

Youngsters between the ages of 10 and 15 with a physical, intellectual or learning impairment, or have a friend or family member with an impairment, will be taking part.

Defending champions Saracens - a school team supported by the Saracens Sports Foundation spearheaded by the rugby-union club of the same name, will be back to defend their title.

Last year's runners-up Exeter Hawks will also be involved alongside Ospreys, Solent Sharks, Northampton and Bristol.

Kirsty Clarke, the national development director at GBWR, said: "Since 2012 we have more than doubled the teams, and people playing, wheelchair rugby in the UK, and have seen a 20 per cent increase in officials getting involved in the sport.

"This second BT Wheelchair Rugby Youth Tournament will enable us to continue that growth and perhaps discover some world class players of the future too."

The action will take place on November 19 from 11am local time.
