They join defending champions Sweden, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, with the latter overpowering Norway 7-2 in their quarter-final played before Finland’s triumph inside the Arena Riga, Latvia.

The early exchanges between Finland and Denmark were tight with only one goal in the opening period coming from Peter Kotilainen.

However, the Finns made a breakthrough in the 28^th minute with a Eemeli Salin strike making it 2-0 seemingly opening the floodgates and by the end of the period, they led 5-0.

Kotilainen bagged the next two strikes to complete his hat-trick and Miko Kailiala also got on the scoresheet.

The pace slowed in the final period as Finland cruised home and goals from Sami Johansson and Jami Manninen adding further gloss to their victory.

In the day’s other quarter-final, Tim Braillard scored twice in the Swiss side’s 7-2 victory which helped set up a semi against Sweden tomorrow.

This will be followed by the second semi-final between Finland and the Czechs.

There were also celebrations from the United States’ camp after their 1-0 win over North American neighbours Canada saw them claimed 11^th place and secure a spot for the 2017 World Games in Wroclaw, Poland.

Poland secured 13^th spot with a 5-4 victory over Thailand, while Australia finished 15th after defeating Singapore 9-3.
