Nepal and Sri Lanka’s baseball champions have been crowned for 2016 following the conclusion of national competitions.

The Nepal Baseball Championship was held for the first time this year, with the Armed Police Force taking on the Nepal Army in the final.

Victory would be claimed by the Armed Police Force, who emerged as 14-4 winners in a one-sided contest.

The tournament was launched by the recently merged Nepal Baseball and Softball Association, with further support provided by the Nepal National Sports Council and Nepal Olympic Committee.

Nepal have just entered the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) world rankings, occupying the lowest ranked position of 70th.

Sri Lanka are currently 54th in the rankings at international level, with the nation having also completed their national event.

A total of 10 teams participated in the double- elimination Sri Lanka Baseball Championship, which featured 18 matches.

The Old Royalist Baseball Club would be crowned winners of the competition, defeating the Ranabima Baseball Club in the final.

Competition took place from December 10 to 18 at the Japan-Lanka Friendship Baseball Field, with the tournament having been arranged by the Sri Lanka Baseball Softball Association.
