Kazakhstan's Yuliya Galysheva retained her women's moguls Winter Universiade gold medal at the Shymbulak Ski Resort in Almaty today.

The 24-year-old won this event two years ago in Granada in Spain and was once again unbeatable today.

Galysheva has enjoyed previous success in Almaty where she won gold in the both the moguls and dual mogus events at the 2011 Asian Winter Games.

One again she was imperious in the competition today, finishing top of the standings with a score of 73.80.

Anastasiia Pervushina of Russia took second in 62.13 while Austrian Katharina Ramsauer rounded out the podium in 52.05.

Kazakhstan then doubled their tally for the day when Dmitriy Reikherd claimed gold in the men’s moguls event.

Another Kazakh skier, Pavel Kolmakov, led the standings going into the final two but was knocked out of gold medal position by Russia's Sergei Shimbuev.

Reikherd then stepped up and produced a score of 79.94 to narrowly edge ahead of Shimbuev and claim the title.

Shimbuev took second on 79.11 while Kolmakov ensured two medals for Kazakhstan by taking bronze with a score of 76.95.
