Chloe Kim secured her first Crystal Globe title today as she claimed the International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup Halfpipe crown.

The 16-year-old United States had to settle for fourth in the event being held at the Bokwang Phoenix Park Resort, with the stage acting as a test event for the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

However, despite missing a podium spot, she did earn enough points to achieve a maiden World Cup title.

Her team-mate Kelly Clark won today’s stage in South Korea with a score of 94.00 points putting her 2.50 ahead of China’s Jiayu Liu.

Another Chinese snowboarder, Xuetong Cai, scored 86.50 to pick up a third place finish.

Kim’s fourth place gave her 500 World Cup points, taking her final tally for the campaign to 3,000.

Clark ended the season in second place on 2,500 while Liu has come third with the same score of the American, but is placed below due to her rival winning more stages.

In the men’s event, Australian Scotty James topped the stage podium with a score of 96.00, helping him secure his second career Crystal Globe, the previous coming in 2014.

Double Olympic halfpipe champion Shaun White of the US came second today with 95.00 while China’s Yiwei Zhang finished third on 93.25.

James finishes the halfpipe season on 2,700 points with US boarder Chase Josey, who came sixth in Bokwang, second on 2,360.

Next up for the halfpipe competitors will be the FIS Snowboard World Championships, due to take place in Sierra Nevada, Spain, from March 7 to 19.
