Olympic champion Julia Dujmovits of Austria has withdrawn from this weekend's International Ski Federation (FIS) Snowboard World Cup event in Kayseri in Turkey due to fears over security.

The 30-year-old has opted not to travel to the competition, where the last parallel giant slalom race of the season is due to take place tomorrow, after a suicide car bomb killed 13 people in the Turkish city in December.

Dujmovits, who won the parallel giant slalom event at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games, confirmed her withdrawal in a statement on her website in which she claimed security cannot be "guaranteed" in Turkey.

"Sorry, I’ve not become a snowboarder to compete under police protection and guarded by sharpshooters," she said.

"It’s my very personal opinion.

"Of course, I respect that other athletes have decided differently on this case."

Dujmovits' decision not to compete at the event rules her out of the race for the overall Parallel Giant Slalom World Cup title.

Alena Zavarzina of Russia currently tops the standings on 3,500 points and has a lead of 400 over Switzerland's Patrizia Kummer, who sits in second place.

The two are likely to battle it out for the overall crown in what is expected to be a thrilling conclusion to the parallel giant slalom season.

Bulgaria's Radoslav Yankov is the leader in the men's event on 3,490 points, with Austrian veteran Benjamin Karl, a double Olympic medallist, also in the running on 2,660.

Both men's and women's races are due to be held tomorrow.

The penultimate Snowboard Cross World Cup event is also set to take place this weekend, with competitors on the men's and women's circuit heading to La Molina in Spain.

Belle Brockhoff of Australia arrives in the Spanish resort as the one to beat as she currently occupies top spot on the overall standings.

Brockhoff is being hunted down by Olympic champion Eva Samková as she has 3,700, with the Czech athlete not far away on 3,570.

The race for the men's title is also proving to be intriguing, with only 130 points separating leader Alessandro Haemmerle of Austria, who has 3,100, and Omar Visintin of Italy.

Olympic gold medallist Pierre Vaultier of France is also in the mix.

The event in La Molina begins tomorrow with the qualification rounds.
