The siblings put together a routine to the music of Singing In The Rain which included level four elements and a diagonal step sequence which earning them 164.82 points.

This pushed Russian duo Alla Loboda and Pavel Drozd into second place by 0.55 points while another US pair, Christina Carreira and Anthony Ponomarenko, went from being in sixth to third overall with their final routine.

“It feels incredible for us,” said Rachel.

“Michael and I had a really good season so far and this is just the perfect way to cap off our junior career.

“We couldn’t be more happy.”

In today’s other competition, the ladies free skating, there was a repeat top three from yesterday.

When the short programme was contested 24 hours earlier, Russian Alina Zagitova claimed gold in front of Japanese duo Marin Honda and Kaori Sakamoto.

Yet again, this proved to be the top three in the ladies competition as Zagitova finished first, Honda second and Sakamoto third in the free skating.

The Russian completed seven triples including a triple Lutz-triple loop on her way to a score of 208.60, which put her 6.99 ahead of Honda.

“Of course, it was very hard to skate right after Marin,” the 14-year-old said.

“I realized I could not make any mistake.

“If I make one mistake I won’t be first anymore, therefore I was nervous.

“But when I got into my opening pose all doubts disappeared.”

Today’s action was the last on the competitive programme as tomorrow will see a skating exhibition bring the championship to a close.
