Heading into tomorrow's rest day, the three-time world champions lead the standings with 12 points from four games at the Gangneung Hockey Centre. 

Alternate captain Tyler McGregor gave Canada the lead against the home nation with 26.5 seconds remaining in the first period after latching on to a pass from four-time Paralympian Billy Bridges.

Victory was sealed by World Championship debutante Dominic Cozzolino, who scored into an open net with nine seconds of the second period left having been assisted by Brad Bowden and McGregor.

Canada have yet to concede a goal in the tournament with Corbin Watson fending off the puck five times against South Korea.

He also recorded his 26th career shutout, which moves him past 2006 Paralympic champion Paul Rosen for the most in the history of the Canadian team. 

Following Canada in the standings with nine points from three games are the United States, who remained undefeated with a 9-0 victory over Germany.

Declan Farmer gave the US the lead in the first period, taking his goals tally at the event to seven which is the most by an American player in a single World Championships.

Paul Schaus then redirected a pass from Josh Pauls to score before Brody Roybal found the net to put the US 3-0 up at the first interval.

Adam Page, Schaus and Pauls all added goals in the second stanza to double the lead for the reigning world and Paralympic champions.

Kevin McKee then made it 7-0 early in the third period before 17-year-old Noah Grove scored his first-ever goal as a member of the US team when he tucked a shot under the crossbar.

Captain Andy Yohe, who has twice come out of retirement, rounded out the scoring.

Bo Reichenbach registered a shutout in his first World Championship start, finishing the game with seven saves.

Today's other match saw Norway beat Sweden 6-1 thanks in part to a 13-minute hat-trick from two-time Paralympic medallist Lloyd Remi Pallander Solberg.

Ola Oiseth, Emil Vatne and Thomas Jacobsen also got their names on the scoresheet as Norway claimed their first regulation win in Gangneung.

"It was amazing to get the hat-trick," Solberg said.

"I feel great, but it was all of us boys doing it together.

"It's a team sport, so it didn't matter which of us got the goals because it was a team victory.

"We had a little bit of a problem with our play in the start of this tournament, but we were able to fix that out here tonight."

Rasmus Lundgren scored Sweden’s solitary goal, but it proved to be in vain.

Action in Gangneung is due to resume on Monday (April 17) with Italy facing Germany, the US going up against Canada and South Korea meeting Sweden.

The World Championship A-Pool competition is serving as a test event for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Paralympic Games.
