The event was held at the Beverly Hills home of Los Angeles 2024 bid chairman Casey Wasserman.

Patrick Baumann, chairman of the IOC Evaluation Commission, was introduced to former Los Angeles Lakers star Bryant.

The Swiss also secretary general of the International Basketball Federation chatted Bryant, an Olympic gold medallist Beijing 2008 and London 2012. 

Stallone has starred in a number Hollywood action roles.

He is probably best known, though, for being the star of Rocky. 

Other figures present included Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who is leading the bid city delegation here this week alongside Wasserman.

They were joined by other leading figures from across the city.

These included City Council President Herb Wesson, Snapchat founder Evan Spiegel and Disney chair Bob Iger.

Steve Ballmer and Jeanie Buss, the respective owners of the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers National Basketball Association teams, were also there.

The list of celebrity attendees among the 70 attendees also included Universal Filmed Entertainment chairman Jeff Shell, Spanish tenor singer Placido Domingo, now the general director of the Los Angeles Opera.

Another notable musical guest was Venezuelan conductor and violinist, music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

It is normal practice for an official dinner to be held during Evaluation Commission inspections.

It is less common, though, for them to take place at the home of the Bid Committee chair.

Last August Wasserman and his wife Laura held a fundraising event for Hillary Clinton during her unsuccessful campaign to become United States President. 

Guests for that event paid up to $100,000 ($78,000/€92,000) for a ticket, which included dinner and a performance from Elton John. 

The residence is built on the same plot where Casey’s late grandfather, Lew, and his wife, Edie Wasserman, lived for decades.

Lew Wasserman was one of the most influential talent agents in Hollywood and among those he entertained at house were US Presidents Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and many others for fundraising events. 

The Evaluation Commission is continuing today with site visits.

A similar inspection of sole rival Paris is taking place from May 14 to 16.

A host is due to be selected during the IOC Session in Lima on September 13.
