Action is set to begin in the third and final leg of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Sprint World Cup season tomorrow in Belgrade with Olympic gold medallists heading onto the water.

Paddlers will head to the Ada Ciganlija Regatta Course in the Serbian capital for races over 200, 500, 1,000 and 5,000 metres as they prepare for the ICF World Championships in Racice in August.

Tomorrow’s racing will be mainly first round and semi-final rounds, but each day in Belgrade will feature finals on the schedule, which finishes on Sunday (June 4).

Hundreds of athletes are set to appear over the course of the three days with 175 races in total.

Among those taking part include three-time Olympic champion Sebastian Brendel of Germany.

At last year's Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brendel was the German flagbearer at the Closing Ceremony.

Spain’s Marcus Walz, who won gold in the men’s K-1 1,000m at Rio 2016, is also on the official start list for the competition.

The Para-canoe World Cup will also be staged alongside the event, with competition running from tomorrow until Sunday.
