British Ski and Snowboard have published the criteria athletes must meet in order to be considered for a nomination for the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.

The documents set out the process by which British Ski and Snowboard put forward athletes to the British Olympic Association (BOA).

The BOA is then responsible for choosing Great Britain's representatives at the Games in South Korea.

Six disciplines are governed by British Ski and Snowboard.

They are alpine skiing, freestyle skiing, cross-country skiing, snowboard, ski jumping and Nordic combined.

Each document highlights crucial eligibility requirements as well as the appeals procedure in case athletes want to contest a decision.

In the disciplines governed nationally by the organisation, Great Britain has only won one Olympic medal with Jenny Jones claiming slopestyle bronze at Sochi 2014.

In February, British Ski and Snowboard announced their intention to become one of the world’s top five skiing and snowboarding nations by 2030.

Putting in place a world-class coaching structure for each Olympic discipline has been outlined as the first phase of the strategy.

With this in place British Ski and Snowboard are looking towards developing longer term strategic plans geared for medal success.

They claim the plans will be based around identifying, supporting and retaining the best British snowsport talent, as well as engaging them in sustainable, funded high performance programmes.

It is hoped the programmes will boost the chance of podium success at major international competitions and the Olympic Games.
