It meant that the nation were named as the best male team at the competition in the South Korean city. 

World number one Mahdi Pourrahnama successfully defended his title in the under-75 kilograms K44 division, after a 16-10 victory over Russia's Vladimir Feofanov.

This made it a hat-trick of gold medals at the Asian Open for the Iranian.

Saeid Sadeghianpour won a second title, after stopping Mehmet Sami Sarac of Turkey in the second round of the under-61kg K42 final.

In the over-75kg K42 division, Ahmad Narimani demolished Kazakhstan's defending champion Nyshan Omirali 24-3 to taste success.

This came despite a leg injury which meant the champion had to be helped onto the podium.

Asghar Aziziaghdam rounded off Iran's dominant performance, defeating Russia’s Bilal Iakhiaev 17-9 in the over-75kg K44.

"I'm very excited to earn my third gold medal at the third edition of the Asian Open," said Pourrahnama.

"I think that it is a good record in my sporting career, and hope that it can lead to another good result at the 2017 World Championships.

"I shouldn’t lay back. 

"I'll continue to train hard and analyse competitors' combat, because their overall level keeps increasing."

Russia also enjoyed a good tournament in South Korea, winning three gold medals, while Turkey and Mongolia topped the podium twice.

Pha Manyvong made history by becoming the first competitior from Laos to compete in an international Para-taekwondo tournament.

He reached the under-61kg K42 quarter-finals.
