Taekwondo Canada have paid respects to Chong Soo Lee, after the Grand Master died at the age of 79 on July 5.

Lee was credited with bringing taekwondo to Canada in 1964, before helping it grow across the country.

Over the last 53 years, Lee is said to have influenced numerous taekwondo practitioners in Canada and around the world.

“Grand Master Lee will forever be remembered as a man of good heart, and a man of respect and honour," Taekwondo Canada stated.

“We have lost a giant of taekwondo in Canada, but we are certain the entire taekwondo community in Canada will commit to carrying forward Grand Master Lee’s legacy.

“He will forever be immortalised as the legendary mentor in the history of taekwondo in Canada and worldwide.

“We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved husband, father, father in law and grandfather.”
