Ukrainian runner Mariia Syvnobii was a distant second place, finishing the course in 3:12.53.

The bronze medal went the way of South Korean Oh Sang, who crossed the line in 3:16.27.

Matouskova broke the women's discus Deaflympics record with a best attempt of 47.95 metres, which saw her finish comfortably in front of the rest of the field.

Larisa Voroneckaja of Lithuania earned silver, while Elizaveta Kashcavtseva of Russia added to her country's haul at the event with bronze.

Russia stormed to victory in the 4x100m relay as Alena Filushkina, Oxana Klimova, Marina Grishina and Ksenia Golovina clocked a Deaflympics record of 47.05.

Ukraine and Belarus took silver and bronze respectively.

Kenya demonstrated their marathon pedigree as the African nation swept the podium in the men's marathon race. 

Daniel Kiptum spearheaded the Kenyan charge in the event as he claimed the gold medal in a time of 2:25.07 to ensure the country ended the athletics programme at the Deaflympics in style.

Peter Wareng came through in second, crossing the line in 2:29.02, while bronze was sealed by David Muriuki in 2:29.18.

Kenya achieved the same feat in the men's 5,000m as Symon Cherono, the Deaflympics record holder, surged to an easy win in 14:06.01.

His nearest challenger, silver medallist Michael Letting, was 52sec adrift of his team-mate, while Kiptum added bronze to his marathon gold in 15:08.43.

Away from track and field, Ukraine won both gold medals in beach volleyball as they topped the podium in the men's and women's competitions.

Anna Zatylkina and Raisa Rylova clinched the women's crown with a 23-21, 21-15 triumph over Lithuanian duo Birute Aleknavicuite and Ingrida Milkintaite.

Ukraine also secured the bronze medal as Yuliia Iaroshevska and Yuliia Chernenko beat Russian pair Elizaveta Alexeeva and Elena Kharchevnikova 21-11, 21-19.

The nation was guaranteed the men's title with Mykola Tsapkaleno and Anton Koshkarov emerging from an all-Ukrainian final against Dmytro Donchenko and Serhii Tarasov on the right side of a 21-12, 21-15 scoreline.

Rushan Dayanov and Maxim Selyutin overcame Russian counterparts Evgeny Kirillov and Ruslan Afanasyev 21-19, 22-20 in the bronze medal match.

The 2017 Deaflympics conclude tomorrow.
