United States claimed a second successive World Baseball Softball Confederation Under-12 World Cup title with a 7-2 victory over Chinese Taipei at the Tainan Municipal Stadium today.

It avenged their defeat to their rivals earlier in the tournament and repeat their victory over the same opponents in the 2015 final.

Kai Caranto's home run proved key in giving the Americans the lead before he returned to pitch impressively in the last two innings.

He was named Most Valuable Player afterwards.

The US pressed home their advantage in the fifth inning after a poor throw by Han Shuo Heng allowed two runs to be scored.

A superb pitching performance by left-hander Juan Hernandez powered Mexico to the bronze medal over Japan.

He managed 75 pitches and 50 strikes for a shut out in a superb performance in which he only conceded five hits and no walks.
