Overall rankings leaders Janja Garnbret and Romain Desgranges each eased through their respective qualification competitions in lead events at the International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup in Arco today. 

The duo each qualified comfortably for the final after finishing tied at the top of the leaderboard.

Garnbret scored 4.18 points in the two qualifying run to finish tied first along with three other athletes.

These were Julia Chanourdie of France, Jain Kim of South Korea and Anak Verhoeven of Belgium.

Desgranges, meanwhile, was similarly comfortable with a score of 4.69 points in the corresponding men's event.

He tied with Stefano Ghisolfi of Italy, Alexander Megos of Germany, Adam Ondra of Czech Republic and Jakob Schubert.

Finals in both lead and speed events are due to take place at the Climbing Stadium close to Caproni Maini Paolina tomorrow.

It marks the fourth Lead and Speed World Cup stop of the year.

Arco also played host to the Lead, Speed and Boulder World Championships in 2011.
