Molten will be the official ball used within the national governing body’s national leagues as well as by the Great Britain performance teams.

It will also be the official match ball used in all national and international home tournaments.

The deal, it is hoped, will benefit BWB’s national league clubs with an emphasis on supporting the development of the game within the UK.

As part of the 2017-2021 contract, Unicorn Products Ltd will supply BWB clubs with a specified number of free-of-charge balls each season.

In addition to the supply of balls to its clubs, Unicorn will also offer all BWB members a 35 per cent discount off its products.

Jo Richards, BWB’s development director feels that this will be a beneficial partnership for the national governing body and its clubs.

"Over the Rio [2016] cycle, post London 2012, we have strengthened our relationship with Molten and Unicorn Products Ltd," she said.

"They are strong advocates of wheelchair basketball and the development of the game within the UK.

"Since the London Games, Molten has been a critical partner of British Wheelchair Basketball.

"They have enabled us to support and service the 300 per cent increase in participation.

"Their continued support of our clubs is representative of their belief and investment in the strength of wheelchair basketball in England and the home countries."

Alex James, marketing manager at Molten UK and Ireland, believes in the power of the game in the UK.

BWB, formerly the Great Britain Wheelchair Basketball Association, is a registered charity and is the representative body of wheelchair basketball in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

An elected Executive Committee, also known as the Board of Trustees, is responsible for the governance and direction of policy for the sport.

Great Britain won the bronze medal in the men's wheelchair basketball competition at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
