The American Samoa Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (SAU IA) has been recognised by the territory's National Olympic Committee.

The SAU IA is a non-profit organisation with the mission to promote and enhance the sport of bodybuilding on the South Pacific island.

Fully recognised by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB), it hosts several bodybuilding competitions locally and selects its representative participants and teams for international IFBB events.

The IFBB offered its congratulations to SAU IA President Peter E. Reid III and all the bodybuilding and fitness supporters in American Samoa for their "excellent work and this great achievement".

IFBB vice-president Paul Graham is leading the progress of bodybuilding in the South Pacific.

The two founding countries were Canada and the United States.

Over the next 69 years, the IFBB would grow to include National Federations from 191 countries.

The current IFBB President is Spain’s Rafael Santonja, who was elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 and in 2014 at the IFBB World Congress in Brasília.
