Japan’s Reira Iwabuchi earned an early birthday present as the teenager triumphed at the fourth Big Air Snowboard World Cup of the season in Copper Mountain.

Due to turn 16 in four days, the Japanese snowboarder produced an impressive display in Colorado in the penultimate event of the season.

Iwabuchi produced a cab 900 stale and backside 1080 mute during her runs in the final, resulting in her claiming the victory on a score of 169.25.

Despite only being 15, Iwabuchi is just the ninth youngest snowboarder to win a World Cup competition.

She was followed by Julia Marino, who impressed during the United States’ national qualifier for Pyeongchang 2018, finishing with a combined score of 160.25.

The podium was completed by Silje Norendal, with the Norwegian scoring 156.75 from her best two runs.

Norway’s Mons Roisland triumphed in the men’s competition, as he managed a total of 182.75 in Copper Mountain.

The score was the second highest the 20-year-old had achieved in his career.

“I'm feeling great, I can't describe how happy I am,” said Roisland.

“I haven't done really well in Big Airs before, so winning here means a lot.

“It's the greatest feeling.”

American snowboarders Chris Corning and Chandler Hunt rounded off the men’s podium, with the pair ending on 177.25 and 159.00 respectively.

Corning moved into the overall World Cup lead on a total of 1,800 points, while the women’s standings are led by Austria’s Anna Gasser.

Having missed the last two Big Air competitions, she is now just 40 points clear of Japan’s Miyabi Onitsuka on 2,000.
