The United States were crowned overall champions on the final day of the 2018 International Surfing Association (ISA) World Longboard Surfing Championship at Riyue Bay in Wanning.

Tory Gilkerson's gold medal in the women's division and Tony Silvagni's and Kevin Skvarna's respective bronze and copper medals in the men's event ensured the US finished top of the leaderboard.

Team silver was taken by Peru whilst Hawaii and Brazil occupied the bronze and copper spots respectively for third and fourth.

The final day of competition at China's first-ever ISA event saw an increase in swell and clean conditions.

Gilkerson saw off competition from Brazil's Chloe Calmon and Hawaii's Honolua Blomfield to claim victory in the women's event.

After her win, Gilkerson said: "I'm so stoked to win, not only for myself but for my team.

"It's amazing to get the team gold.

"We have great camaraderie and are all super supportive of each other.

"It's like a team of brothers and sisters.

"We've had a great all-around performance.

"The team gold is the icing on the cake."

Japan’s Natsumi Taoka won her country's first-ever ISA longboard surfing medal thanks to her copper medal finish.
