Mapp was 0.25 seconds shy of Klots' winning time of 2min 29.32sec on the Swiss track, but it was enough to earn second place and add 110 points to his overall tally for a final total of 1,084.

The 39-year-old ends the campaign with a 102-point advantage over nearest challenger Christopher Stewart, who came third today, 0.71 seconds off the pace, in front of a home crowd.

Canada's reigning champion Lonnie Bissonnette, who came 10th today, has finished a further 22 points behind in the bronze medal position.

Overall success for Mapp caps off a magnificent season, which has seen him reach the podium in eight out of the 10 races. 

He finished first on four occasions, second on three occasions and third on one occasion. 

Klots' win today was his first of the season. 

It followed a runners-up finish in St Moritz yesterday, when he was sandwiched in between winner Stewart and third-placed Mapp. 

The completion of the World Cup season means attention now turns towards the World Championships.

The Championships are due to take place in Lillehammer in Norway on March 10 and 11.
