The ICSD have called on interested cities to come forward and submit their ideas around staging the multi-sport event.

A host for the 2021 edition of the Summer Deaflympics is being sought by the organisation, as well as a venue for the 2023 Winter Deaflympics.

The ICSD have invited proposals for the events to be submitted by July 1 in 2019.

They revealed their project for both events have been built in line with the International Olympic Committee’s Agenda 2020.

It is claimed this involves finding cities and countries that can stage Deaflympics in feasible and sustainable way.

Ensuring the Games fit into a long-term development plan of a city, region and country has been highlighted as a priority.

The 2021 Summer Deaflympics will be the 24th edition of the event, last held in the Turkish city Samsun during 2017.

Around 5,000 athletes and delegates took part, with 21 sports having featured on the programme.

Turin is poised to stage the 2019 Winter Deaflympics, the Italian city hosting the 20th edition of the event.

The ICSD revealed their host cities will be chosen by their Executive Board, acting on a recommendation of its President.

It will follow a near six -month period, where bids will be analysed by the organisation.
