Paralympic champions United States have unveiled their women's squad to compete at this year's Wheelchair Basketball World Championships in Hamburg.

Rio 2016 gold medallists Rose Hollermann and Abigail Dunkin are the two headline names on the team which will be looking to win their first World Championship title since 2010.

The US have a good record at the competition having taken two gold and four silver medals since the competition's inception in 1990.

However, they could only achieve fourth position at the last tournament in Toronto in 2014.

The team tasked with recapturing a medal at the competition alongside Hollermann and Dunkin is Josie Aslakson, Kaitlyn Eaton, Ixhelt Gonzalez, Shelby Gruss, Ali Ibanez, Riley Ljungdahl, Bailey Moody, Emily Oberst, Morgan Wood and Lindsey Zurbrugg

Josie DeHart, Sarah Heinzl, Jordan Kozloski and Shantelle Winslow have been placed on the alternates list.

Head coach Trooper Johnson said he was excited about the young team, which has an average age of just 18-and-a-half.

"We have an incredibly young group with a lot of potential and energy," he said.

"It's great to see this group of young women start the process of pushing this sport forward so early and it will be exciting to see how they perform in the World Championships."

The US will face Algeria, Argentina, China, France and Germany in Pool B.

Pool A contains Australia, Brazil, Canada, Great Britain, Spain and The Netherlands.

The 2018 World Championships in Hamburg takes place from August 17 to 26.
