Olympic champions Pierre Vaultier and Michela Moioli will hope to maintain their positions at the top of the Snowboard Cross World Cup rankings when competition resumes in La Molina from tomorrow.

The Spanish venue is set to host the 10th of the 12-race World Cup season, and the first since the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.

Vaultier maintained his World Cup form in South Korea, as the Frenchman stormed to Olympic gold in the men's event.

It meant he defended the title he claimed four years ago in Sochi.

He also looks well on course to secure his sixth World Cup crystal globe, which is awarded by the International Ski Federation to athletes at the top of the rankings at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has accumulated 6,120 points so far this season to remain well on course for a third straight World Cup crown.

His nearest rival is Australia's Alex Pullin, who occupies second place in the standings on a total of 4,376.

Austria's Alessandro Haemmerle lies in third on 3,840.

The women's standings are led by Moioli, with the Italian also set to come into the event on a high after clinching her maiden Olympic title in Pyeongchang.

The 22-year-old has a lead of more than 1,000 points in the World Cup standings, having claimed 6,630 to date.

France's Chloe Trespeuch and Charlotte Bankes are the nearest challengers, with the paring boasting tallies of 5,600 and 5,000 respectively.

Their compatriot Nelly Moenne Loccoz is fourth on the leaderboard with 4,740.

Competition will begin tomorrow in Spain, with qualification events scheduled to take place.

It will be followed by finals on March 3.

The penultimate World Cup of the season will take place in Moscow on March 10, with action concluding at Veysonnaz in Switzerland on March 17.
