The penultimate round of this season's International Ski Federation (FIS) Alpine World Cup is due to begin tomorrow with a women's giant slalom event in Ofterschwang.

It will be followed by a women's slalom race in the same German resort on Saturday (March 10).

A men's downhill race is also scheduled for Saturday in the Norwegian resort of Kvitfjell.

It will be followed by a super-G race the following day on the Olympiabakken slope.

Germany's Viktoria Rebensburg has a slender lead of 32 points in the giant slalom standings and will be hoping for home success tomorrow.

She will face stern opposition, however, from a pair of reigning global champions.

France's world champion Tessa Worley lies second in the standings while United States' Olympic gold medallist Mikaela Shiffrin is third.

Shiffrin also leads the slalom and overall rankings.

Beat Feuz of Switzerland heads the men's downhill rankings by 40 points from Norwegian rival Aksel Lund Svindal.

Dominik Paris of Italy is currently third.

The final World Cup legs are then scheduled for next week in Åre in Sweden for men and women.
