Dominican Republic maintained their 100 per cent start to the Pan American qualifier for the Women's Baseball World Cup with victory over Puerto Rico.

The host nation recorded their second consecutive win to move a step closer to booking their place at this year's World Cup as they beat their Puerto Rican opponents 11-7.

All of today's matches were moved from the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium in Santo Domingo to the Dbacks Complex in nearby Boca Chica due to rain.

Puerto Rico had earlier defeated Mexico 4-2 in a contest suspended the previous day as a result of the bad weather.

The two sides have the same one win and one loss record after two matches as Mexico went on to bounce back by thrashing debutants Argentina 22-3.

The four nations are competing in a round-robin group, with the top two teams booking their place at this year's World Cup in Viera in Florida.

Dominican Republic will secure their place at the tournament if they beat Mexico on the final day tomorrow.

They could still miss out if they lose to Mexico, while Puerto Rico will also fancy their chances as their last opponents are minnows Argentina.

The Puerto Ricans are the only country who have graced the World Cup stage before, in 2010.

The tournament will conclude on Sunday (March 25) with the qualified nations joining hosts United States, Canada, Cuba, Venezuela, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, The Netherlands and Australia.

World Cup action is due to take place at the USSSA Space Coast Complex between August 22 and 31.
