Eight-time Olympic champion Bolt promised a bottle of champagne for every athlete that showed the "Lightning Bolt" pose at Pyeongchang 2018 and the German quartet of Vinzenz Geiger, Fabian Riessle, Eric Frenzel and Johannes Rydzek were among those to accept the challenge.

They did so on the winners’ podium having beaten defending champions Norway to top honours in the team large hill/4 x 5 kilometres event.

Having received their bottle of champagne, the foursome recorded a video which was posted on the German Ski Association’s Nordic Facebook page.

"Hello Usain, thank you for the promised champagne bottle, perfect for our season finale," triple Olympic gold medallist Frenzel said.

"The next time you come to our training, we'll show you how to ski properly."

Dutch speed skating champions Sven Kramer, Kjeld Nuis and Ireen Wüst also struck the pose at the Games.

"Congrats for your gold medals," Bolt tweeted Team Netherlands during Pyeongchang 2018, naming all three skaters.

"You are speed legends on ice!

"I admire you for that.

"You definitely deserve a bottle of champagne to celebrate!!"

Last week, Bolt trained with German football club Borussia Dortmund’s first team in a two-day trial.

The 31-year-old retired sprinter has always harboured hopes of playing for his beloved Manchester United.

Dortmund shares a sponsor with Bolt in sportswear giants Puma.

They had long said he could train with the team at some stage.

Bolt, the world record holder in the 100 metres, was also training with South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in January.
