Hosts The Philippines edged Mongolia 6-5 to record their second victory at the International Ice Hockey Federation Challenge Cup of Asia.

John Fuglister scored four of the home side's goals as they won at the SM Mall of Asia Ice Skating Rink in Pasay.

After losing their first match to Thailand, The Philippines have now won their next two in the round-robin tournament.

A high-scoring first period saw them lead 3-2 at the break and they were 5-3 up at the end of the second.

The home side then made it 6-3 and held on as two Mongolian strikes threatened a comeback.

The match was the only game of the day with Thailand still top on two wins from two in front of the host nation.

Whoever tops the round-robin will win the tournament.

Mongolia, who now have the same record as The Phillippines, will meet the Thais tomorrow.

Kuwait will also play Singapore with both sides eyeing a first victory.

The country which finishes bottom will be relegated to Division One.
