Under the terms of the deal, NBC Sports Group will present an "unprecedented 80 plus hours of coverage" each season, including over 30 hours of figure skating on NBC and at least another 50 hours on NBCSN.

The same original programming will also be showcased on the Olympic Channel.

Events broadcast will include the US Figure Skating Championships and the International Skating Union Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series, which includes Skate America, the ISU World Championships, ISU Four Continents Championships, the European Championships and the World Team Trophy.

"This is an exciting day for US Figure Skating," US Figure Skating President Sam Auxier said. 

"The opportunity for us to not only continue, but to expand upon our strong relationship with NBCUniversal, the US media home of the Olympic Games, is one that makes complete sense for our organisation. 

"Ensuring that domestic and international figure skating events have maximum exposure is a priority to us and this new agreement will have a lasting positive impact on our ability to develop figure skating at every level in the United States."

NBC Sports Group have showcased figure skating ever since the 2007-2008 season.

NBCSN will also broadcast four hours of coverage of ISU Speed Skating and Short Track Speed Skating World Championship events as part of the latest deal.

"Figure skating has long captivated the American sports fan as again demonstrated by the audiences that consistently gathered to watch these incredibly talented athletes during the Pyeongchang Olympics," said NBC Olympics President Gary Zenkel. 

"We are excited to continue our partnership with US Figure Skating, and to expand coverage of the sport’s marquee events, increasing year-round exposure of figure skating and speed skating."
