Nour El Sherbini will face Raneem El Welily in the women's singles final tomorrow while Mohamed ElShorbagy will lock horns with Colombia's Miguel Angel Rodriguez in the corresponding men's finale.

World number one El Sherbini was forced to dig deep before beating England's defending champion Laura Massaro in the first last four-clash.

The seventh seed led 2-1 but was ultimately beaten 11-13, 11-4, 11-13, 11-7, 11-5 in a gruelling 70 minute encounter. 

“I’m really happy to win this match,” said the 22-year-old Egyptian following her win.

“It’s always really tough to play Laura in Hull, she was playing so good here but I’m really happy that I managed to get back and win the fourth and happy to be in another final.

“I think when you’re not playing the way you want to play you have to keep fighting for every point, I lost the third when I was leading 9-6 but I just kept going and tried to relax a bit."

World champion and second seed El Welily will stand in her way  after a 11-7, 4-11, 12-10, 11-6 victory over France's 2015 champion Camille Serme.

Top men's seed ElShorbagy edged past France's defending champion Gregory Gaultier in a thrilling first men's semi-final.

The duo, whose head-to-head record stood at 11-11 heading into the clash, lit up the Hull crowd before the Egyptian won 8-11, 11-6, 11-6, 3-11, 11-5 in 71 minutes.

Miguel Angel Rodriguez ended the giant-killing run of Germany's Raphael Kandra in the final match of the day to prevail 11-5, 5-11, 11-4, 11-3.
