Russia's Varvara Subbotina claimed solo free routine gold on the final day of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Artistic Swimming World Series in Budapest.

Subbotina had celebrated victory in the solo technical event yesterday and the 17-year-old was the star athlete again at the Duna Arena in Hungary's capital.

She was rewarded for an excellent performance with a score of 95.3330 points to end top of the podium.

The second gold on Subbotina’s international debut has set the Russian up for success at the Junior World Championships.

The competition will take place from July 18 to 22 at the same venue.

Ukraine’s Yelyzaveta Yakhno ended as the runner-up today, as she finished with a total of 92.7999.

The podium was completed by Italy’s Linda Cerruti, who scored 90.5668.

Russia were victorious in the team free competition, with their team awarded a tally of 97.0000 points.

They were followed by Ukraine, who ended with a total of 93.3333.

Israel finished in third place on a score of 80.6668.
