Brazil earned their first International Equestrian Federation (FEI) Nations Cup Jumping victory at the French seaside resort of La Baule.

Their team were competing at the Europe Division One Nations Cup series event, but were not eligible to claim qualifying points.

An impressive performance saw the Brazilians finish the competition with only seven penalties.

Pedro Veniss achieved the crucial clear round for the South Americans.

It proved enough to finish top of the podium at the French venue.

“Quabri is my very best friend,” said Veniss, about his horse.

“He has so much scope and always tries his best for me.

“That’s the greatest feeling in the world.”

The Netherlands ended as the runner-up in the event, after ending with one more penalty than the Brazilian team.

Switzerland completed the podium places, after they finished with a total of nine points.

The result at the François André de La Baule-Escoublac stadium helped keep Switzerland top of the overall standings after two legs.

Coupled with their win in the opening leg, their third place today moved them onto 180 points.

They are followed by Ireland, who are second on 145.

Six more Nations Cup events will feature in the European series.
