Five athletes from five different sports have been nominated for the International Paralympic Committee's (IPC) Allianz Athlete of the Month for May award.

Ukraine's powerlifter Mariana Shevchuk is among those in the frame after setting a new world record in the women's under-55 kilograms class.

She lifted 130.5kg at the European Open Championships in France to record the new global best.

Wheelchair racer Peter Genyn of Belgium is also nominated after a pair of world records at the Nottwil Grand Prix in Switzerland.

He first clocked 20.07 seconds in the men's T51 100 metres before following that up with a time of 1min 17.21sec in the T51 400m.

Judoka Priscilla Gagne is the third nominee after the Canadian won home gold at the International Blind Sport Federation's Pan American Championships in Calgary.

She won all three of her fights via ippon to clinch the under-52kg title.

Equestrian's Rodolpho Riskalla is also in the frame after his Para-dressage performance at the Maimarkt competition in Mannheim, Germany.

He came top in the team test and individual and third in the freestyle.

Completing the list is Iran's shooter Sareh Javanmardi, who won two world titles in Cheongju in South Korea.

The double Paralympic gold medallist overcame a penalty deduction to win the P2 women's 10m air pistol SH1 and she beat an all-male field to the title in the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH2.

The public can now vote for their winner on the IPC website here, until June 8.

The nominations are compiled from submissions by National Paralympic Committees and International Federations.
