Sailing was prevented today due to weather ©World Sailing

Sailors were thwarted by weather conditions on the third day of the Sailing World Cup Final in Marseille.

Rain and cloud cover prevented competition during the morning session and then halted sailors from taking to the water in the early afternoon.

There briefly appeared a chance for some racing to take place as the afternoon progressed.

Fleets took to the water, but a lack of wind ultimately saw competition called off for the day.

Organisers said that each fleet will now have an additional race scheduled, following today's postponement.

The RS:X class will be the only field where this will not apply.

World Sailing said that due to the high stress on their bodies, windsurfers are only able to contest three races per day.

The event in Marseille, the venue for sailing competitions at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, continues tomorrow.
