Colombia and Morocco secured their quarter-final places as the group stage concluded at the International Blind Sports Federation Blind Football World Championships in Madrid.

The Colombian team claimed a narrow 2-1 win over Iran in what was effectively a play-off for the second remaining spot in the last eight from Group B.

Jhon González was the star of the show for Colombia as he scored both of their goals, while Shahhosseini found the net from the penalty spot for Iran at the Colegio Sagrado Corazón.

Colombia's reward is a meeting with reigning world and Paralympic champions Brazil in the quarter-finals.

Morocco also progressed with a win as they overcame Thailand 3-0 in Group A to qualify behind hosts Spain.

The African side will take on China for a place in the semi-finals.

China completed their group stage campaign with a 100 per cent record as they beat Russia 1-0 in their final Group C match today.

Mexico's faint hopes of qualification from the group were dashed after they could only draw 1-1 with South Korea.

Argentina, who finished their group matches yesterday, ended top of Group B and will face England in the last eight.

All four quarter-finals are scheduled to take place tomorrow.
