The African Sambo Championships will begin tomorrow in Hammamet in Tunisia.

Sport, beach and combat divisions will all be contested at the Palais des Sports Hammamet in the North African country until Sunday (June 24).

It comes after Tunisia received Government support to host the continental event last year.

Majdouline Sherni, Tunisia's Sports Minister, held discussions about the event with the Tunisian Sambo Federation.

Moncef Shalgaf, the director general for sport in Tunisia, promised a successful hosting of the Championships.

Seychelles hosted last year's African Championships in May.

Morocco proved to be the dominant nation as they finished on top of the medal table in the Indian Ocean archipelago.

This year's event is being sponsored by Rosneft.
