Czech Republic will aim for their fourth straight title ©European Softball Federation

A record 12 teams will compete at the Men's Softball European Championships in Havlíčkův Brod in the Czech Republic.

Competition will begin tomorrow and run through to June 30.

Teams will be split into two groups, with the hosts headlining Group A.

They will face the challenge of Belgium, Britain, Italy, Germany and tournament debutants Lithuania.

The host nation are expected to reach the latter stages of the Championships, having been the dominant team in the competition's previous 13 editions.

The Czech Republic have won the tournament on nine occasions and are yet to finish outside the top three.

This has included victories at the last three editions of the tournament.

Denmark, who have faced the Czech Republic in the last seven finals, will hope to add to their sole triumph in 2010.


They headline Group B, with The Netherlands, Israel, Croatia, Sweden and Slovakia poised to provide the opposition.

Group matches will take place for the first three days of the competition, with the knock-out round running until June 30.

The top three teams at the tournament will earn places at next year’s Men's World Championships.

The World Championships are set to take place in Prague.
