Anita Tippet has been appointed as Australian Taekwondo's team manager for this year's Oceania Championships in Tahiti.

She has been handed the role after managing the country's athletes during their three-week tour of Europe earlier this year.

Australian Taekwondo congratulated the "experienced" Tippet on her appointment.

A qualification tournament to decide the Australian team for this year's Oceania Championships is due to take place next month.

The event will take place at the AIS Combat Centre in Bruce, a suburb of capital Canberra, on July 7 and 8.

Senior, junior and cadet qualification events will take place in kyorugi taekwondo with poomsae and Para-taekwondo disciplines also contested.

Following the event, Australia will select its athletes for the Oceania Championships in Papeete in Tahiti.

These will run for three days between August 2 and 5.

The qualification event will also double up as the Cool Climate Classic competition.

Funding of AUD$2,500 (£1,400/$1,900/€1,600) will be made available to senior athletes who win gold in their division at the qualifier.

The cash will be available regardless of whether the winner is a categorised athlete.
