Russia will play in Division A next year after winning the IWBF European Division B title in Charleroi in Belgium ©IWBF

Russia have won the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) European Championships Division B title in Charleroi in Belgium.

Their victory over Austria in the final  59-49 sees them promoted to Division A.

As runners-up Austria also qualify for the top division, due to be played next year. 

Russia started the competition badly, losing their first two matches, including their first game also against Austria. 

In their first clash the Austrians came out on top 50-41.

The Russian's then also lost to Sweden in their second match, 49-60

After that the Russian's form took a turn, though, winning four games in a row against Latvia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Austria to take the gold medal.

Lithuania took the bronze by beating Bosnia and Herzegovina 81-74 in the playoff for third.

Also on the final day of play Belgium overpowered Croatia 67-54 to take fifth place and Sweden beat Latvia for seventh place in a tense match 53-51.
