Hosseinali Nazari has been appointed as chairman of the Islamic Republic of Iran Taekwondo Federation's Coaches' Committee.

The key appointment was confirmed on the organisation's website.

Nazari has a masters degree in physical education management and is a university professor.

He has an eighth dan black belt in taekwondo and has been involved in the country's programme as head coach of the national poomsae team.

In 2014, he was named "best Asian coach".

In addition, Nazari has worked as chairman of the governing body's Referee Committee - a title he held for eight years.

He has also been a member of the Technical Committee. 

Iran competed at the 2017 World Taekwondo Championships in Muju, South Korea, with the country winning three silver medals and one bronze.

The powerhouse nation suffered a disappointing performance at the Rio 2016 Olympics, winning just one bronze.
