A security exercise has taken place at Minsk National Airport to test preparations for next year's European Games in the Belarus capital.

Units of the State Security Committee of Belarus (KGB) joined the Interior Ministry, the State Border Committee, the Emergencies Ministry and other Government agencies to take part in the country's official state news agency Belarusian Telegraph Agency (BelTA) reported.

The exercise was designed to analyse potential risks before Minsk 2019.

The Airport, the main hub of the Belarusian flag carrier Belavia, is located 42 kilometres east of the centre of Minsk.
