Holders the United States continued their perfect start to the women's Inline Hockey World Championships with a 5-2 win over hosts Italy in Asiago today.

The Americans led 2-1 after the first period and sealed victory in the Pool A clash by winning the second 3-1 at the Hodegart venue.

They are joined in having a 100 per cent record from their opening two matches by Czech Republic, who beat Argentina 8-1 at the PalaRoboan venue in Roana.

The two teams are due to play each other tomorrow in a Pool A decider.

Today’s Pool B action in Roana saw last year’s runners-up Spain make it two wins out of two by defeating New Zealand 7-1 and Canada overcome Australia 3-0.

In Pool C, Latvia held on for a 4-3 triumph over Sweden having led 4-0 at one stage in Asiago.

There were also two games in Pool D today as Switzerland lost 6-1 to Finland in Roana before thrashing India 15-1 in Asiago.

A further six games are scheduled to be held tomorrow in all.

The senior men’s event is due to begin on July 22.

France will be looking to defend their title in that competition.
