A 112.5 kilometres route from Annecy to Le Grand-Bornand is the challenge for riders in the fifth edition of La Course by the Tour de France.

The women’s race, arranged by Tour de France organiser Amaury Sport Organisation, is set to feature 20 teams.

The route includes 78km of the stage 10 of the Tour de France, with men riding on the same day.

The women’s course will then feature 28km between Annecy and Thônes then the final 50km between Bonneville and Le Grand-Bornand.

Organisers have highlighted the four climbs on the stage, with prizes for the best climber and most combative rider set to be awarded at the end racing of this International Cycling Union Women's WorldTour event.

Following final climb at Haute-Savoie, riders will then have a fast downhill to the finish, where the fifth edition of the race is expected to be decided.

The first three editions of the women’s race were held on Champs Elysées on the final day of the Tour de France.

The fourth staging of the event saw a different format introduced by organisers, with two stages featuring last year.

A climb at the col d’Izoard was the highlight of the first stage, with a handicapped time trial in Marseille, based on the previous day’s results, deciding the overall winner.

Dutch rider Annemiek van Vleuten won the opening stage last year, before sealing the title when a chasing group proved unable to catch her in the time trial.
