The Japanese men's national team that will compete at the 2018 World Wheelchair Basketball Championships in German city Hamburg has officially been presented.

Building and looking ahead to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, head coach Shimpei Oikawa has selected a mix of youth and experience.

The team includes the young and upcoming talent of 19-year-old Renshi Chokai.

The oldest and most experienced player is Reo Fujimoto, who at the age of 34 has competed at four Paralympic Games since making his debut at Athens 2004.

Selected alongside Chokai are four other players who represented Japan at the 2017 Men's Under-23 World Championships in Toronto in Canada; Takahiro Akeda, Takayoshi Iwai, Rin Kawahara and Takuya Furusawa.

Oikawa makes only one change to the team that finished third in the 2017 Asia Oceania Championships to qualify for a place at the World Championships.

They will be looking to better their ninth-place finish from the 2014 edition of the global event in Incheon in South Korea.

The 2018 World Championships are due to take place from August 16 to 26.

Japan have been pitted against Brazil, Italy and 2014 bronze medallists Turkey in Pool C.
