The list of invited athletes is based on the Olympic ranking as of June 2018.

Competing in the eight Olympic weight categories, four male and four female, participants will be vying for Tokyo 2020 ranking points and prize money of $5,000 (£3,900/€4,300) for the winners, $3,000 (£2,300/€2,600) for silver and $1,000 (£800/€900) for each of the two bronze medallists.

Several titles are up for grabs as four of the sport’s top fighters will not be in Moscow.

Triple world champions Lee Dae-hoon and Kim Tae-hun, leading names in the men’s under-68 kilograms and men’s-58kg categories respectively, will be focusing on competing for South Korea at this month's Asian Games in Jakarta and Palembang.  

Joining them in skipping the event to participate at the Games will be Thailand’s Panipak Wongpattanakit, the world number one in the women’s under-49kg division.

Great Britain’s double world champion Bianca Walkden and double Olympic champion Jade Jones are also taking a break.

Names to look out for in the men’s categories include Russia’s Mikhail Artamonov, the Olympic-ranked number three in the under-58kg.

Other males likely to make a mark are Artamonov’s compatriots Alexey Denisenko, Maksim Khramtcov and Vladislav Larin at under-68kg, under-80kg and over-80kg respectively.

Among the women’s categories, Russia’s Tatiana Kudashova is the number three-ranked contender at under-57kg.

The first World Taekwondo Grand Prix of 2018 took place in Italy’s capital Rome in June.

Post-Moscow, the third leg of the Series are due to in Taoyuan, marking the first time a Grand Prix event has been held in Chinese Taipei, and the fourth will be in Manchester.

The Grand Prix Final is set for Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates on November 22 and 23.
