A new Under-15 Baseball World Cup winner is guaranteed following the achievement of hosts Panama and the United States in reaching the final of this year’s edition in David.

Cuba, winners of this title on the past two occasions in 2014 and 2016, had already been beaten by both finalists, and lost its final super round game 8-5 to Chinese Taipei.

America beat Japan 8-2 to confirm their place in the final as super round winners.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, the US saw their fortunes surge as Cody Schrier hit a solo home run - his second in as many days - and Ryan Spikes followed later in the frame with a two-run double to left-centre to give America a lead that they would not relinquish.

That victory effectively gave Panama a place in the final, but they made double sure with their final super round match as they beat the Dominican Republic 3-2.
