In the men's competition, Michael Herr beat two Italian athletes to take the title, adding to his 2017 Target Sprint World Championship crown from Suhl, Germany.

Herr finished in 4min 23.28sec to win gold, in front of Alessio Di Stefano and Georg Unterpertinger.

The Italians crossed the line in 4:24.87 and 4:28.36 respectively to take silver and bronze.

Kerstin Veronika Schmidt took gold in the women's event, bettering her third place finish last year.

Schmidt's time of 4:45.98 was enough to beat defending champion and compatriot Jana Landwehr into silver.

Landwehr finished in 4:47.13 in front of bronze medallist Manuela Alberigi of Italy who finished in 4:59.33.

As the event is not included in the Olympic programme, no Tokyo 2020 quota places were awarded.

Germany's success continued in the junior target events as Madien Guggenmos took gold in the women's competition.

She claimed junior gold in 5:12.39 by beating Great Britain's Emily May Shawyer into silver.

Shawyer's time of 5:19.98 was enough to beat team-mate Charlotte Frances Huddart into bronze in 5:30.91.

In the men's junior target sprint, Italy took home the gold through Giovanni Pezzi.

The Italian shooter was more than 12 seconds faster than the rest of the competitors.

Completing the six 200 metre laps and three shooting sessions in 4:22.78, Pezzi's closest rivals had to wait for a photo finish to decide the silver and bronze medals.

Germany's Felix Elsner was awarded the silver medal with a time of 4:35.21secs over Britain's Morten Jos Var Der Schee.

Schee was only 14 tenths of a second behind Elsner.
