All of the men's rinks played twice on day two with Kevin Koe's quartet making it three wins out of three in Group A.

They thrashed Scotland 11-1 and then followed that up with an 8-2 victory over winless Japan.

Japan were also well beaten by Switzerland, 10-1, on a day to forget.

The Swiss were edged 5-4 by Scotland in the other Group A clash played.

In Group B, every side in action won once and lost once.

United States and Norway have two wins from three, with the Americans beating China 6-5 today and losing to the Norwegians 9-1.

Norway also lost 8-5 to Sweden, skipped by world champion Niklas Edin, who were in turn beaten 7-2 by China.

The inaugural World Cup competition has four legs, with winners from each event in the men's, women's and mixed doubles disciplines gaining a spot at the Grand Final in Beijing.

It is seen as a key way of promoting curling in China before the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

In the women's competition, Sweden's Olympic champion skip Anna Hasselborg made it two wins from two in Group A today.

Her quartet defeated Japan and Satsuki Fujisawa 7-4.

China bounced back from their opening defeat by beating Scotland 7-4 on home ice, meaning both sides have a win and a loss with Japan bottom and yet to get off the mark.

In Group B, Rachel Homan made it two wins from two as Canada defeated South Korea 12-0.

The US also have a pair of victories in the group with Nina Roth's rink seeing off Russia 8-3.

Mixed doubles teams were in action twice as Canada's Laura Walker and Kirk Muyres made it three wins on the spin in Group A.

They were too strong for Russia, 9-1, and Sweden, 8-2.

Russia had mixed fortunes as they also beat Norway 10-9 today.

The Norwegians had earlier seen off the Swedes 8-4.

In Group B, Sarah Anderson and Korey Dropkin of the US are undefeated.

They saw off China and Switzerland today, 9-2 and 10-4 respectively. 

Winless South Korea lost twice, 11-5 to China and 11-1 to the Swiss.

Eight teams in each event have been split into two pools of four and will play in a double round robin tournament, with the top two teams progressing.
