The Beigang Para Dance Sport Open will begin tomorrow, and the start of the event was marked by an Opening Ceremony in front of the Ciyou Temple©Para Dance Sport

An Opening Ceremony was held for the Beigang Para Dance Sport Open due to begin in Chinese Taipei tomorrow. 

The fourth World Para Dance Sport event this year will take place over two-days.

A total of 10 medal events will be contested by 76 athletes from 13 countries. 

The competition is expected to be be good preparation for the 2018 European Championships in Łomianki in Poland, next month.

The opening event was held tin front of the Ciyou Temple.

Notable participants include Belgium’s Sofie Cox in the women’s singles and freestyle class 2, alongside Poland's World Championship bronze medallist Pawel Karpinski.

Reigning world champion in the men's single class 1, Changwoo Han of South Korea, will also compete, challenged by Hong Kong's Wah Keung Ma. 

The favourites in the combi freestlye and combi Latin class 2 are Rhea Marquez and Julius Obero of the Philippines.

Other pairs going for gold include Han with partner Jini Ryu in the combi Latin 1 and duo Latin 1 world silver medallists Chan Kam Tim and Ma Wah Keung of Hong Kong.

India are also set make their Para dance sport debut at the event.
